Was Dragon Ball Inspired by the Powerpuff Girls?

The Powerpuff Girls is one of the biggest action cartoons to air on Cartoon Network. Despite having references to video games, comic books, and pop culture in general, there is one scene in The Powerpuff Girls that seems to have a reference to Akira Toriyama's franchise, Dragon Ball. In the second season of the episode Stuck Up, Up, and Away, the Powerpuff Girls team is introduced to a new student named Princess Morebucks.

The young girl is a huge Powerpuff Girls fan who tries to use her savings to become a hero like the Powerpuff Girls. When the Powerpuff Girls asked him to leave, Princess Morebucks instead decided to use the money to become a villain with advanced technology, giving him super powers in no time.

Using a super-expensive costume to defeat Bubbles and Buttercup, Morebucks then attempts to blast Blossom with a laser. But Blossom can dodge the laser in the same way Trunks from the future did in the Dragon Ball Z franchise. Blossom just tilts his head slightly while keeping his focus on the opponent in front of him. This seems to prove that the Powerpuff Girls are also inspired by Dragon Ball.

In the Dragon Ball Z series, Trunks does this after the events of the Android arc, where he goes back in time to destroy Android once and for all. Trunks fought hard in much the same way as Bloosom. It was one of the most memorable moments by Dragon Ball fans. The Powerpuff Girls series is full of these kinds of references.
