One of the iconic elements of Akira Toriyama's franchise, Dragon Ball, is the Super Saiyan transformation. In short, Super Saiyan is an ability that makes a Saiyan grow stronger when fighting against enemies. Usually, when a Saiyan accesses this ability, his appearance will change drastically.
His hair color will turn golden and his body will be filled with a yellow aura, and the anger inside him will be felt. And Super Saiyan now seems to be a "stepping stone" where the higher a person's Super Saiyan level, the more powerful his abilities. However, the Super Saiyan transformation itself is initially displayed very differently, unlike the one featured in the Dragon Ball Z series.
The Super Saiyan transformation itself was introduced early in the series, with Vegeta being shown to be the strongest Saiyan on the planet. He became an invincible Saiyan. However, this changes when Frieza, who gets a prophecy that he will be defeated by the first Super Saiyan in a thousand years, makes him go to the planet Namek and destroy the homes of the Saiyans.

When Vegeta tries to take revenge for his planet's destruction on Frieza, Vegeta becomes obsessed with transforming into a Super Saiyan. Unfortunately, it never materialized. Instead Vegeta had to die at the hands of Frieza, which made Goku angry and eventually transformed into a Super Saiyan in order to avenge Vegeta against Frieza.
However, long before Goku did Super Saiyan in series Z, a non-canon Dragon Ball film, Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug which was released in 1991 introduced us to a different Super Saiyan. When battling Lord Slug, who is trying to invade Earth, Goku must admit his strength is not as strong as Slug's. Frustrated by the defeat he suffered and also how he nearly died, Goku finally mustered all the remaining strength in himself.
It actually triggers a transformation that gives him tremendous power. Finally, by using this transformation, Goku was finally able to turn things around. King Kai who saw the event from his planet was amazed by the increase in Goku's strength in such a short time. And this makes us think that Goku is already accessing Super Saiyan for the first time.

Even though Goku has a golden yellow aura and his hairstyle also matches the Super Saiyan that appears in the canon version, his hair color doesn't change at all. His eyes also turned white when this transformation took place. In addition, the transformation did not last long, only about a few minutes before Slug who was surprised by Goku's increase in power came back to his senses.
However, after Akira Toriyama introduced the real Super Saiyan in the manga, the transformation that occurred to Goku in the film was given another name. Its name is Pseudo or False Super Saiyan, in other words it is a fake or pseudo Super Saiyan transformation. It is explained that this form is an "early" form before a Saiyan is able to perform a full Super Saiyan transformation.
Both Vegeta and Broly are shown to have experienced this phase, before they were able to access the full Super Saiyan transformation. After the two of them - and other Saiyan characters - were able to access the full Super Saiyan form, in the end this Pseudo Super Saiyan began to be abandoned, never again appearing in the series.
