Released in 1988, this film is the third film in the Dragon Ball series. Just like other films released at that time, the setting itself is in an alternate reality from the original series. The film itself attempts to adapt the story of Red Ribbon as well as the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai of the manga. The film itself is about Goku and Krillin who train with Master Roshi in preparation for the World Martial Arts Tournament in Mifan.

However, the tournament did not go as they had imagined. In the story also the king Mifan is trying to find the missing Ran Ran, and the king will not stop until he finds him. Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies
