Trying to guess how the story of Luffy and the Straw Hats' journey in the One Piece series will end, has indeed become one of the topics that many fans talk about. Moreover, One Piece has been running for more than two decades, so fans are trying to guess what might happen when the story ends.
The hype that the One Piece story was coming to an end did exist years ago, with Oda Sensei saying he would end the One Piece story within a set time – usually within five years. But, then the saying is again revised or repeated again in the next few years. Lastly, Oda Sensei said that One Piece will indeed be finished in 5 to 10 years.
Talking about the final story of One Piece, several years ago Oda Sensei had said that he would change the ending story of One Piece if there were fans who managed to guess, or were able to theorize and speculate similar to the ending story he had prepared. However, it seems that the statement was revised again by Oda in an interview with a TV program in Japan.
According to a tweet from @Newworldartur in early 2021 yesterday, Oda Sensei confirmed – through one of his editors, Isaka – that he would not change the ending storyline of the One Piece series. According to Isaka, in fact the final storyline of One Piece, since the beginning of the story, has never changed even though later there were fans who guessed it.

Isaka also explains that Oda has been preparing for everything for a long time, and he doesn't want the plans he's been building for decades to go to waste, just because fans have guessed the final story. This seems to be a real confirmation from Oda, and what he said earlier was just a joke.
What's interesting is that in 1999, Oda Sensei said himself that he had prepared the final chapter and final panel for the One Piece series. Previously, there was a "myth" where Oda Sensei would change the ending of One Piece, if any fans were able to guess. That's what led to the assumption that One Piece can never be guessed how the story ends.
Some fans think that many people have misunderstood what Oda Sensei said. Others also believe that the change in the story referred to by Oda is how the "way" to the ending story, not the ending story that is changed. In the end we will still get to that point.
